Pakistan Throws It Away

After dominating most of the match, Pakistan finally lose by 50 runs. Pathetic. To one of the worst bowlers in the Sri Lankan team who took the best haul of his career.

There is not much to say, really. This is similar to the West Indian victory in their first home Test against England. One good spell by Taylor and West Indies won the match.

I don’t like these kind of matches. Sri Lanka did not do anything much to win it and Pakistan just threw it away. This is somewhat like cheating the fans. If you want to lose, don’t raise hopes to deceive.

    was it fixed ?

  2. Prafs says:

Sri Lanka did well with the ball, but losing 8 wickets for 46 is jut criminal.
Butt especially was rather silly in throwing it away at a crucial juncture.

I agree, Prafs. It was terrible. By the way, Prafs, can you turn on Name/URL on the comments in your blog. I am unable to post any comments otherwise.

Rangana Herath another spin magician for Sri Lanka after Mutahia and mendis.

    • Krishna says:

Rahul, Herath has not performed so far in his career. This was his career-best and he will probably go back to his regular poor bowling soon. One drop of rain does not make a monsoon!

  4. Krish, you sound as if India lost – and that’s what I was thinking earlier today, what if India had lost from 71/2 to 117. And the picth was no bitch either.

    • Krishna says:

@Naked Cricket, if India had lost, this would have front-page news. I hate to think whose effigies they would have been burning.

I am rather surprised that the Pakistani bloggers have been more subdued than angry. They seem to have expected it.

  5. Q says:

Well it was not expected but it wasn’t surprising.. we have seen this from Pakistan far too many times – I think we have become immune. It was shocking to see what I saw but I didn’t see reason to be too angry.. I know Pakistan dominated for 3 days of the match, even though the Sri Lankans beg to differ on this, I know Pakistan were the better team for the first 3 days, and there are a lot of positive to take from the game.. above all it was an exciting test match.. hence the subdued reaction :-)

    • Krishna says:

Q, I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised either. You have a point about positives, particularly Mohammad Aamer. It was a good time for Pakistan to go 1-0 up with Murali absent. But that was not to be.

  6. Q says:

That’s true.. it was the ideal time to be 1-0 up.. i just hope SL continue with sporting pitches and don’t produce flat ones to play out dull draws now…

    @Krishna
    sure krishna… will do that

  9. Prafs says:

    oops typo there, i meant krish… :)

  10. H says:

Match was not fixed. SL utilized the pitch and the home crowd advantage for their win and SL is beter than Pak in test matches. also SL has beaten India much better than both SL and Pak in the past.

    • Krishna says:

H, Pakistan definitely held an advantage over Sri Lanka in both matches. They could have easily won both. I think Pakistan could have done better than what they did.
